June 2009
Well it has been a while since I have posted a blog, in fact I managed to go the entire month of June without updating. I was hoping to get one in before the end of the month but I realized I missed my mark this morning, so I figured I could start July off right... this may be a long one so get comfy!
We had our 2nd ultrasound mid June, which I think was even more amazing, at least for me, than the 1st ulrasound. I dont think it really hit me during the first ultrasound that the baby in the pictures was our son and that he was really in my belly; but this time I had experienced him moving on a r
egular basis and have kind of gotten to know him a little already. Also we were able to see and recognize so much more this time, we even got to see him moving and swallowing ( his little lips moving was so cute). They say that he is in the 10% for weight, growing healthy and strong. He has long arms, legs and feet... just like daddy, mommy's nose and a big round belly... much like mom now too. We have another ultrasound schelduled July 20th.A few weeks ago Rachael was able to make it up for her first visit and we met up with Nicola for dinner and girl time. The next day Rachael and I set plans for our Austin baby shower, picked out invitations and even picked up some baby books. :)
Father's day weekend we finally got up to Fredericksburg to see Opa and Oli. It was Brian's first time meeting my Opa and Opa's first time seeing pictures of the baby. It was great getting to visit with them for a few hours, and Brian seemed to be enamoured by the big catfish in the pond, lol, If only Oli would let us go fishing.

That same morning Deanna and Mark's healthy baby boy was born. Mark Huston III was born at June 20th weighing 8.6 lbs. We went straight to the hospital when we got back. He is so adorable, and it was also helpful (since they delivered at the same hospital we will) to see the rooms and hear how the whole process went. I held baby Mark for a while, and as precious as it was, I still cannot fathom that that will be Brian and I in a matter of months, 3 to be exact. I think I may even be a little sad when I'm no longer pregnant since I love it so much :/

After that weekend and until October 1st Brian is not allowed to travel further than an hour from base beacuse he is part of the "emergency response battalion" or something. This is unfortunate since we have no family or friends (other than Mark and Deanna) within an hour from us so I either have to travel alone or family will have to come visit us.
Saturday was my favorite day of all; Mom ,Trish and Chance's gf Kelsey planned a beautiful baby shower for me Satuday morning. I got some great stuff to start Mommyhood with. Thank you to everyone who attended and especially to Mom Trish and Kelsey for making it so fun an wonderful. I am so grateful to have such a supportive mom and family,my mom has done so much for us this year and will make a wonderful grandmother!
After the baby shower we loaded everything up in the Jeep and headed to Dad's where we had a mini family reunion. My Oma, Aunt Cindy, cousins Cassandra and Michelle + Griffin came down from Austin and all the boys came over. It was awesome having us all together again, especially since Brian and I won't be able to make the September reunion this year.
I am back home now and so happy to be with Brian again, I think the baby is happy too because he kicked very little all week in Houston and now is back to his usual patterns and kicking even stronger. In fact I'm watching my belly jump around right now. We had an appointment two days ago for a prenatal checkup; the doctor also said he seems to be growing well, maybe a little ahead in growth actually (we will find out maybe at the ulrasound). He has a strong healthy heartbeat and even kicked the doctor a few times lol. She was very happy to see that I have finally gained 4 lbs (probably from all the cakes and pies everyone treated me to last week) and I was given a support wrap and some medication for my back pain which I am so thankful for. Later this week I have to get tested for gestational diabetes, other than that my baby business is to write thank you notes for the baby shower and start organizing the nursery... I really think I'm going to have to move the guest bed into the office to have room for our little pumpkin seed.
