January News
Hey y'all! We hope everyone has been having a great new year so far! We have been off to a pretty good start ourselves and have been staying busy busy busy. Brian is knee deep in the Med. Board process and I'm back to working everyday and networking with the teachers I meet as much as possible. Jr has been busy too this month completing his physical therapy for his torticollis.
I've also begun studying for the Special Educators exam and two weeks ago I applied for an opening at a local elementary for a resource teaching position. I have been fortunate to work with some wonderful teachers and students in the Special Education department here in Cove and they encouraged me to apply and have recommended me to the coordinator of the department. I have also spoken with the teacher who used to hold the position I applied for, turns out her husband is one of Brian's sergeants and we were seated next to them at the ball this past Friday. She told me how wonderful the school and principal were and how they created the position for her but a 4th grade class opened up and she happily moved to that position. In addition to applying here in Cove I am also putting an application in at Magnolia ISD. Earlier this month I went down and stayed with Sheldon and Trish and we worked on my resume and portfolio and Trish has given it to her principal with a recommendation for me as there will be some positions opening at her school next year.
As far as where I'd rather be there are pros and cons to both opportunities. Fortunately both districts are awesome to work for so that would not be an issue. If I work here in Cove I've made some good connections so far and it's the highest paying district in the area, Brian has an AWESOME sitter whom he really seems to love and we have a really good deal on rent. But we are so far form friends and family here, and there isn't much for Brian job-wise when he gets out. In Magnolia the pay is a little more and we'll be around friends and family and B. can grow up with his cousins and I will have the comfort of being near Trish who is an awesome teacher and I can turn to if I need any help my first year. Downside would be Mrs. Gonzales can't move with us and we'd have to find new arrangements for B while I'm at work, we'd also have to deal with the hassle of moving which is never fun especially with as much stuff as we have :) So basically we are open to whatever comes our way and we will happily move or stay put, which ever the future has in store for us.
In other, more exciting news Lil B is growing like a weed! At 3 1/2 months hes moved completely into the 3-6 months clothes and has already begun growing out of some of them. He is now sleeping 10-12 hours a night and rarely wakes up anymore for his pacifier, which he is needing less and less. His days are starting to follow more of a routine and his wake times are getting longer, some even up to 2 hours. He has taken an interest in his toys now loving anything that makes noise, lights up and goes easily in his mouth. He is reaching for toys on his lap and in front of him and stiffens up with excitement when he can make something play sounds or light up. He has also grown fond of the t.v. watching it with daddy often. :) Head control is pretty much down and he can sit up with assistance now and he is working harder on rolling from side to side and has even rolled from his tummy to his back a couple times much to our, and his surprise lol. The cute newborn look is fading everyday for an even more adorable "baby" look. :D
On the 12th we have his 4 month check up and vaccinations. We as always are curious to see exactly how much he has grown and Brian is dying to find out when we can start him on "real food" lol while I am wondering what's up with his poops and if he's begun teething so it will be an exciting day for all of us. Also while on the medical subject Brian's doctor finally found out why he can't ever breathe, hes got fluid in his ears, film in his throat and his nose is pretty much completely blocked! He's started the meds to clear it all up and will have a CT scan to see if they don't work. My doctor informed me that the abnormal cells in my cervix are precancerous so I will be going in on Tuesday to have a minor surgical procedure to have the cells removed. :/
And as I mentioned before Jr's physical therapist is now content with his neck strength and stamina and say he no longer needs therapy, this week was his last visit :)
Well, that's all I have for now folks, look for a new post after B's check up.
Much love!
Thank you Lucy, I'm so glad you enjoy it!
